Bio
This is a fictional journal. No profit is made and I am only showing my love for Micheal Crichton. I am not Ian Malcolm or Jeff Goldblum. Ian Malcolm is from the Fandom Jurassic Park and will be played in/during or just after the first movie and book with bits of Operation Genesis thrown in.

Full name: Ian Lynn Malcolm
Nicknames: Malcolm, Rockstar, Know-it-all
Birthday: 1/23/1957
Religion: Non-practicing Jew
Hair/eye color: Black/Hazel
Height/weight: 6’4.5” /160
Degrees: Berkley: Undergraduate Major in Mathematics and Minor in Physics. University of Texas: Masters in Mathematics, University of Chicago: Masters of Evolutionary theory. MIT: Phd in Chaos Theory/Computational Biology and Quantum Mechanics (Indepth look at his educaton)
Employment: Research in Mass Extinction University of Texas. Instructor in Mathematics at Berkley, Consultant and Population advisor to InGen (Ongoing), Professor of Quantum Mechanics and Computational Biology at MIT, Research in cosmic evolution University of Texas and instructor in Evolutionary Theory.
Published: Book on the Malcolm Effect, extensive list of papers on chaos theory, teaching and evolutionary catastrophe. Currently writing a book on the K-T extinction.
The Malcolm Effect: A theory discovered/published by Ian stating that no system moves toward equilibrium. All systems are inherently moving toward collapse. The more variables involved the more catastrophic the collapse.
Affiliations: The Santa Fe Institute, MIT: Computational and systems biology, InGen
Family: Three ex-wives, relationship in the past Sarah Harding. Currently with Ja’nee/[info]a_mind_flip. One daughter, Kelly, 14, born January 10th.
Other skills: Plays piano, Jazz scatting, pilot a helicopter, basic magic tricks, cooking (especially West African and Jewish cuisine)

History with InGen and the Park: Ian was contacted by John Hammond at the age of 29 to help with some calculations on the viability of fragmented genetic code. At the time Ian had no idea what the project was. Over time he was contacted on several occasions to consult on various aspects of population biology, genetics and extinction theory. When Ian was 34 he learned what Hammond was really trying to accomplish. It was too late to back out and Ian’s desire to see how the system (ie what Hammond was doing) would fail kept him on. Despite the tension over the Park Hammond and Ian were relatively good friends. Two years later he was invited to visit Jurassic Park.

During the visit Ian was trampled by a female Tyrannosaur while trying to help Alan Grant save Hammond’s grandchildren. He was also attacked by Compsagnathus. After the incident at Jurassic Park Ian, along with Grant, Ellie, Muldoon, Harding, Hammond and the grandchildren were imprisoned by the Costa Rican government. Ian almost died while being imprisoned. He returned to the states only by signing a non-disclosure agreement. Ian was hospitalized and confined to a bed for six months.

After recovering Ian learned of Site B (Isle Sorna). He signed on as a researcher. Ian did this to be a monitor on what was going on. He feels like no one else is capable of keeping Hammond in check and keeping the park and the dinosaurs in check. He considers his job working at Sorna and Nublar a suicide job but can’t sit back and let it go unmanaged.

Health concerns: Ian has osteomyelitis in his left tibia after being stepped in by the T-Rex. He goes through bouts of sepsis brought on by the infection. The incorporation of genetically modified dinosaur DNA in the plasmid of the staph bacteria causing his infection has made curing him nearly impossible. For the past three years he’s been in trials for antibiotics with no luck in clearing up the infection. Ian is very easily addicted to morphine/opiates and so avoids it no matter how painful his leg becomes. Ian almost always walks with a cane. Since the incident at Jurassic Park he has periods of extreme depression brought on by nightmares, pain and lack of sleep. Ian also avoids stimulants beyond a cup of tea now and then. He’s very high strung and becomes anxious to the point of illness on stimulants.
